Spanish I & II
Sra. Barbara J.
Moomey
Welcome to Spanish class! In this course you will be
learning and practicing to communicate in the Spanish Language. You will also
learn about the people, places, and customs associated with the people who
speak Spanish through a variety of activities and resources. Most work will be
done in class, but practice at home is essential as well. Except for large
projects, I expect all written assignments to be completed fully and turned
in on time at the beginning of the
period following that in which it was assigned. Each assignment is designed
to give practice to master the concept taught in class. It is necessary to do
this work before the following class or you will be behind. For this reason, late
work may be penalized.
Regular attendance is vital. Missing one class will
put you at least one day behind. If you must miss class, you are expected to
either get your work from me ahead of time or stop by and get your assignments
the day you return so that you can complete them on time. Any notes missed
will need to be copied from a classmate who was here or you may make
arrangements to come in after school to get them from me. Nothing can replace lost class
time … remember that always! If you are absent, you will be allowed one
day for each one missed as makeup time. For example, if you miss class on the
21st and return on the 22nd, your makeup work will be due
on the 23rd. If you miss class on the 21st and 22nd
and return on the 23rd, your makeup work for the 21st
will be due on the 24th. Arrangements must be made to make up any
missed tests or quizzes after school.
After the first few weeks of school, there may be a short daily
quiz at the beginning of class instead of bell / daily work (Hagan Ahora).
This is especially true for Spanish II. One daily quiz/bell work grade per
quarter may be thrown out.
Arrangements may be made to retake any quiz or test that
earned below 70% after school. This does
not include quizzes or tests that earned 0 for cheating or talking during the
test/quiz.
